BRAHM

BRAHM is the vision of vocalist/percussionist Brahm Masla. Originally from western Massachusetts and growing up part time in Jalisco Mexico, Brahm writes personal, passionate, and dynamic music that expresses a vast array of human emotion and experience. The live band is made up of all rotating multi instrumentalists, including multiple live drummers, who guarantee that every show is captivating and exhilarating. With each musician contributing their own virtuosic and unique voice, the songs tell deep stories in english and spanish, spreading messages of humxnity through energetic rhythms, thoughtful melodies, and hard hitting lyrics.

The project is a truly genre-less band, and in this musical expansion, they are able to connect with a really wide audience of music lovers appreciating many different sounds.  A mixture of many of Masla's influences, the band draws sounds from indie pop artists such as Bon Iver, Big Theif and James Blake, jazz/rock/fusion bands like Weather Report and Yes, and wordsmith/poets such as Saul Williams and Aja Monet. This one of a kind blend brings together a fantastically unique landscape of artistic expression.  When asked what type of music they play, the band has often joked and said  “what kind of music don’t we play?”. The best description for the music that brahm has found so far however is from an audience member at a recent show who described the project as: pure emotional expression.

Over the years BRAHM has been able to perform across the United States, Mexico, Canada and Brazil at esteemed festivals and venues such as The Copacabana Palace, The Green River Festival, El Patio De Mi Casa, Ziontific, Grassroots Festival, the San Jose Jazz Fest, and many more.

Brahm Masla Trio/4tet

Brahm Masla’s extensive global performance and scholarship in the jazz idiom has set a firm groundwork for his own artistic endeavors and creations within the genre. Often collaborating with friends and colleagues such as internationally known pianist Tal Cohen, or multi grammy award winning trumpeter John Daversa, Brahm’s jazz explorations take his love for every genre of music, and filter them through a small group lens, with a more acoustic style mindset.

Taking influence from some of the many incredible jazz musicians Brahm has had the privilege of accompanying over the years such as Cohen, Daversa, Tony Perez, Arturo Sandoval, Charles Neville, Nestor Torres, Aaron Lebos, Glen David Andrews, Nicole Henry, and many more; the musical intention of this project is to break new barriers of what modern jazz can be while also paying deep respect, and homage to the great lineage of Black Amerian Music and Jazz history. Brahm writes arrangements and compositions both from the head and heart, and the bands are always energy infused, sure to captivate the audience from the first stroke of the snare drum until the very last hit of the cymbal.

Brahm has had the great honor and privilege of performing at some of the worlds most beautiful jazz venues such as Timicua Arts Center in Orlando FL, Springfield Jazz Festival in Springfield MA, the San Jose Jazz Festival in San Jose CA, the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami Fl, The Smith Center in Las Vegas NV, Terraza 7, The Jazz Club, NUBLU, Mintons, and Bar Bayeux in NYC, The Copacabana Palace in Rio De Janeiro Brazil, The Jazz Foundation in Jalisco Mexico, and many more.

June Arc

June Arc is a future pop music unit, composed of Brahm Masla, Tim Watson and Justin Trout. The band started with the three University of Miami jazz studies majors freely improvising for hours, at the beginning of every band rehearsal, trying to experiment and unlock new sounds, textures and musical mysteries within their formation. After many years, the band landed itself into a production heavy, hybrid electro-acoustic sound, drawing upon influences from every genre across the globe, and finding a home amongst the likes of modern day artists like ARCA, Charli XCX, Mg.Kee, UMRU, Porter Robinson, Death Grips, Empress Of, and The 1975.

Since the band’s inception in late 2018, they have played at festivals like iiipoints music festival, Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance, The BBQ fest, and many other venues across the country. They recently released their second single, “IDONTWANNAEATTHAT”, closely following with its Music Video that has been recently regarded as a “must see” for “fans of hip hop”.
